WHEN IS IT FINISHED?

In painting, I often find an end point to a piece. In writing, (almost always) I could revise forever. Interesting how two creative outlets have different end results.

The one on the right is finished. I keep seeing the figure of the Mishepeshu* lurking under the surface.

Left painting has to dry yet, but I think it is done. It reminds me of those photographs where movement is captured with a slow shutter release.

Both will probably end up in my shop at some point (link in bio) Thinking of doing a studio sale soon. Interested?

*Mishepeshu is the dangerous water panther of Ojibwe lore. Anyone who knows the temperamental waters of the Great Lakes can quickly understand how such a creature manifested itself.
